I am wondering if Street Sense or Rags to Riches are coming to the Travers Stakes. If they or any other good horses are running, I wanna definitely make a trip plan to Saratoga.

  1. i think street sense is, maybe curlin, maybe rags to riches...try this link www.thebloodhorse.com they usually have good info on that stuff

  2. it should showcase the top 3 3 year olds. curlin, street sense. and rags to riches, now they all have been well rested and may the best horse with the best ride win....sometimes they have a late bloomer pop up and shocked the field, i hope

trainer Allen "the giant killer" jerkins has a horse in the field

he is well known  for sending out long shots to beat odds-on favorites.

  3. It's 'way, 'way too early to know for sure who will be coming to the Travers, which is August 25th this year.

Rags to Riches may go in the Alabama stakes on August 18th instead of the Travers;  her connections have talked about the Alabama, but we'll see.  If they're satisfied with a divisional championship (3-year-old fillies), they probably won't run her against colts again, but if they have horse of the year aspirations for her, then they could put her in the Travers.

Street Sense and Curlin, as well as Hard Spun, may all shoot for the Travers, but with Thoroughbreds so much depends on luck.  If a horse misses a workout at a key stage of training, or runs a bad prep race, or the track comes up muddy the day of the Travers, trainers may opt to pass.  The Haskell Stakes, which has a purse of $1,000,000, is run on August 5, and a colt that runs in the Haskell isn't likely to run back in the Travers.  The Whitney Stakes on July 28 is another possible option that could be chosen instead of the Travers.  Here on the west coast, the Pacific Classic at Del Mar is on August 19, and west coast 3-year-olds could opt for this, if they're game to face Lava Man, instead of making the trip to the east coast and "the graveyard of champions," as Saratoga is known.

Keep checking these websites to know who is lining up for the Travers stakes:  http://www.bloodhorse.com/  , http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com/default...

  4. Right now it's hard to speculate which horses will show up. It's almost 2 months until The Travers, and as we all know a lot can happen in that time!

I am anxiously awaiting it though!

  5. Street Sense may run in the Travers. (Read this article: "Street Sense passes Belmont for Travers" http://www.ntra.com/content.aspx?type=ne... )

Rags to Riches might run in the Travers, too. Or she might opt to the Alabama Stakes on August 18. (Read this article: "Rags to Riches eyes Travers" http://www.ntra.com/content.aspx?type=ne... )

Other than that I don't know any other horses that are possibly running in the Travers. I hope that Allen Jerkens has some horses in the field! I loved the Suburban Handicap!

    GO STREET SENSE!!
