  1. here are some websites i use for when im looking for horses. but i get good results for trail horses in ohio, but im not sure about cause i dont know where you live but here are some:

    horsetopia.com

    horse.com

    equine.com

    dreamhorse.com

    horseclicks.com

those are the ones i mainly look at.. and they do have some good results, hope this helps..

  2. Okay, this is going to be a semi-long response so get ready.

Here are some of the horses I do not recommend pursuing:

    Spring - $350 BROODMARE

This horse is only 350 bucks! If she was a great trail horse, she'd be 3,500! Besides, she's a broodmare, not what you're looking for.

    Cheyenne & Emmy - $1500 = $750 ea.

This one is obvious, you don't want 2 horses.

    Domino - $1,500

Only 4 years old, too young.

    Docs Golden Legacy - $3,500

Only 4 years old, too young.

    BJ - $500

    Skeeter - $3,500

From the ad, I think he's a rescue and the seller says he's a bit spooky, so this may not be a good thing on the trails.

    Moab - $1,700

Horses I would consider LOOKING INTO:

    Sport - $3,000

This horse looks okay. He's a bit big though, so if you're a smaller person, he would be a lot to handle and groom.

    Robin - $1,650

She looks cute! She's also a drafty, so if you're good with riding wide horses, you may want to look into her.

    Dox Smoke Alarm - $3,500

He looks to be about the right age and he doesn't look bad under saddle.

    Miss Holly Anna - $4,000

I only went as far as the pictures went because I can't really judge without seeing a picture.

Good luck with the horse search!

  3. One of the best things you can do instead of looking online is go to a local horse sale (Where I live in SC we have 2 very good local sales) You get to really look at the horse and ride them before you buy. You can get very very good deals this way but you are taking a risk with ending up with a Sunday bucker... Or you can look in some of your local sale papers. We have one local here that is called the Iwanna. Many people if you do it this way will even offer a trial period. Last option is to look on Craigslist. buy local and when  you go to look take someone with you who can give you an unbiased opinion. You don't have to spend a ton of money to get a good horse.  You might have to actually put some work into the horse and build a relationship with the animal but I know plenty of people who have spent under 1000$ for a horse and it end up being the best horse they've ever owned. You just have to be careful.

    Good Luck!

  4. well if you are just looking for a horse to ride through the trails dont spend  a ton of money just get a little cheapy who is well broke and that you can handle and that should work but out of all of em i like Diamond Rocket Wrangler if your wanting to show in this area he has pretty colors which helps with points

  5. Well, if you want a good trail horse I would not get a thoroughbred or arab, as these tend to be hyper and explosive.  There are exceptions, this is just a general rule.  Quarters and Paints are generally calm and accepting.  If you just want a trail horse, their are others that would be cheaper, as you do not need a registered horse nor one with famous bloodlines.
