  1. The dv2700t will have more than enough umph to watch your videos and run your editing software.  It features core 2 duo processors which are known for their brute force approach to crunching data, and do especially well with streaming graphics and audio.

The tx2500z will also do what you want it to do, but with a higher price tag.  They feature AMD processors which are very stable and great at crunching numbers efficiently, but will not beat the Core 2's at video processing (mainly due to the architectural interface between the CPU and the Front Side Bus).

My advice, save a few bucks and get the dv2700t.

  2. Get the one with the most ram, video ram, fastest cpu, and biggest hard drive for the best price. The only thing that determines pc price is computing power and storage size.

  3. Hate to share this but if I were you, I'd look at another make other than HP pavilions. Don't want to bash but I've had 3 HP Pavilions and had the hard drives crash in 'em all. The first time it was in warranty and I got a PC replacement.

The motherboard in my 2005 HP a1020n just died on me last week for reasons I know not of.

Look at a Gateway or Dell or something. I loved my Pavilions but I have since found out that the Pavilion desktops are notorious for issues. I have a discount on purchasing a new HP computer coming to me now because of a class action lawsuit against HP for one of the models I bought in 2000 or so. I won't be getting another HP, though.
