Question:

Which interior latex paint dries the SLOWEST?

I understand that lap marks -- or streaks (are these the same?) -- are caused by previously applied paint drying too fast and when you apply the later paint it causes these streaks. Is the paint I am using (and I'm not adding any drying agent to it) drying too fast?

  1. Unless you stop in the middle of a wall and leave it for several hours, you will not get lap marks from paint drying too quickly.  The proper way to paint a wall is to roll it in small sections, being sure to not let the roller run out of paint.  Then, for best results, when you get to the end of the wall, go back and reroll the entire wall in one continuous run.  This is known as backrolling, and will eliminate uneven coverage.  Often, a second coat will be necessary to ensure complete coverage.  Hope this helps.  Good luck.

  2. The darker the slower to dry..
