  1. Beer doesn't grow in gardens. It is brewed in breweries.

The best brewery is the Cascade Brewery in Hobart

  2. Hi Ernie,

It's gotta be pie in the sky on the pacifc hwy??... think its cowra  nsw..  u can't beat the view mate.  and the pies are unreal... a bit expensive, but worth it ...

  3. Perth would have to be the Best Beer Garden Venue, we haven't had an event here in a while.  But it would be great to have a expo here again in Perth.  We have the best weather in Australia for the Festival as our heat is dry not humid as it is in Queensland.  As for the other states Perth wins hands down.

We have the best weather all round.  Giving every opportunity to market the Beer Festival to its optimum.

  4. it has to be your own backyard ernie you can do what you want feel so comfortable choose music and the vibe you get with you and your mates is the best on earth the best thing about it is everyones got one out the back door

  5. Stones Corner Hotel ."The Bloodbath" the foods c**p,so's the service and the patrons, but if you wanna beat up some girls it's the pub to go to.Or you could try the Kin Kin hotel, kin kin .qld.good ppl, good beer, great food.

PS.g'day ernie.hows it hangin?are you allowed back in a pub?And are you allowed to be given achohol again? Can i see the note from your wife?

  6. The Newington Hotel in Stanmore. Its got a great vibe and its got a cook your own BBQ and its cheap!

Also to that person who said this doesn't give a good image of Australia, obviously you're not from Australia and you have no idea pub culture is celebrated here.

  7. There are lots of great beer gardens in Australia, but since you are only asking for one...

The Oaks in Neutral Bay is fantastic. It has a great big 70 year-old oak tree in it, with lots of room and a relaxed atmosphere. On a warm summer's night I can't think of anywhere I would rather be!

  8. In Cairns Far north Queensland i think it's called trade winds i can't remember but i am from cairns and i can't remember.

but it's the best because it's got a great view of the boats going out to the reef and the esplanade and close to the lagoon and city.

  9. The Newport Arms in Sydney was going to be my answer but I see a vote for the Cottesloe in Perth - also a very deserving contender. Difficult choice.

Both have great views, and great beer gardens.

Cottesloe is a walk to the beach and you can watch the sunset over the water. Whereas I think the Newport arms has better food and is a better set out pub overall.

hmmm if pushed I would go for the Cottesloe by a nose. Perth people are more friendly than Sydney's insular peninsula.

  10. I used to love the Breakfast Creek Hotel, in Newstead,Brisbane. I live on the other side of town and don't know what it's like now though.

  11. One's own backyard - Invite whoever you like, drink whichever beer you like, and you don't have to drive home.  You can even put your guests up for the night if you like.

  12. I've been to many of the aforementioned pubs and I have to say that the Newport Arms is definitely the best.

  13. Hi Ernie!

I will have to say the Humpreys Tavern in Koondoola Perth, W.A.

Why? Cause it has the best bouncers there that will walk you to your car AT ANY TIME day or night! Best on Friday nights for it's  "dancing girls" with limited stretch marks and tattoos. The pub also has it's own bartering system which is conducted with the locals, shout them a beer or two to keep from being severly throttled. And for the adrenalin junkies you'll be continously thinking once you walk in the door if your going to make it out of there alive or if your cars been broken into or burnt/stolen.

  14. Mooball Pub on the old pacific highway - take the Murwillumbah turnoff  from the freeway to the Pottsville turnoff. It's the besr beer garden I've ever been to. Kid and dog friendly and with a beautiful fenced swimming pool and plenty of shady areas. On a hot day you can pull in off the road and fall in the pool without even having to buy a beer. The counter lunches aren't too bad either. Bistro or restaurant style. The locals are a really cool and friendly crew too.

  15. The Newport Arms is fantastic and is Australia's largest waterfront beer garden.

You have heaps of room, great food and drink and views of the water. There is even a small playground for the kids, so you can have a day with your mates without paying for a babysitter.

The beer garden also has the Northern Beach's largest oudoor cinema screen which is great for when there are major sporting matches on. It shows sport every day of the week.

Take note that on days like Father's Day and some holidays you have to get there early to get a table as it gets very busy.

  16. a choice between 2 in Perth, the OBH in Cottesloe and the Left Bank in Freo. Great fun atmosphere at both.

  17. I have a place that is fantastic!  Very beautiful surroundings, awesome beer, out of sight BBQ!!.  The Place:

    Belgian Beer Cafe Bluestone

    Melbourne,Australia

    Live Music on Sunday

Some of the Beers Sold are:  Belgian Dark Beer/World's Best selling.  Sold in over 80 countries.   Hoegarden.  Worlds Best White Beer.  Lefife Blonde.  Belgians original Abbey Beer.

The Euro Dogs are to die for!!

BBQ is just out of sight!

  18. the best beer garden is the coffs hotel in coffs harbour, they have there outdoor TAB, with a door to the TAB that's next door.the food in pub use to be Thai still could be, they would bring out your food, great for kids even bands like Russel Crow play there

  19. I think the best beer garden is right on the beach at Halliday Bay, called Halliday Bay Beach Resort. Find out more at www.hallidaybayresort.com.au Just north of Mackay and situated in he lush greenery of a golf course, not too crowded either.

  20. The stradbroke island hotel at point lookout, straddie. It is right at cylander beach, everyone sits outside under the trees, kicks back abd watches the sun set, and the dolphins cruise by. It is family friendly AND there are toad races.

  21. id have to say any back yard is the best beer garden when its filled with family and friends

  22. I would have to say the Anglers Tavern (Maribyrnong) on the Maribyrnong River in Melbourne. Fabulous environment, live bands, great food and greta service.

  23. I find the Golden Sheaf in Double Bay a great beer garden. In winter it has the outdoor heaters on to keep you warm and in summer....well, you enjoy the summer breeze! The food is fantastic and the crowd is funky, yet relaxed. The lighting is just right - dark, with just enough light to give it a good atmosphere.

  24. Definitely the Quokka Arms Hotel on Rottnest Island. You can relax with a beer as you look over the water towards the city and pretend you don't have a care in the world. It’s a great spot to hang out with friends or to meet new people. Plus it’s right on the beach!

  25. The best beer garden in Australia would have to be with out a doubt the Watson's Bay Hotel Beer Garden-it has a great view of the Sydney Harbour and is rite on the beach-last time I was there they still sold jugs of beer and even jugs of Bourbon and coke !!

You really have to see this place to enjoy its beauty and atmosphere,as I'm pretty sure you would have done Ernie.

  26. Jeez Ernie, everytime an Aussie celebrity has a question featured on Yahoo Answers it's about pubs or other types of watering holes.

This does not do much for the Aussie image.

Why couldn't you ask about our fabulous landmarks, landscapes or native animals?

    Cheers.

  27. I do have to agree with Mr. C - the Oaks in Neutral Bay is a fab beer garden, but another unsung one is the Willows Tavern in Risdon, Hobart. It is often overlooked because the area where it is located is not that fashionable, but it has a huge enclosed beer garden with barbeques that people can use with their own food, giving it an almost picnic site feel. It is surrounded by bushland and has excellent food and beers, as well as top service.

  28. the victory pub near sellicks beach sa it has the veiw of the best bit of coastline in the world!!!

  29. thatz easy... The Saint! a restraunt/bar downstairs nd up... THE BEER GARDEN!!! no roof makez itz veiwz fantactic!!!

    (perth) barn ST inaloo

  30. 1.  Newport Arms.

    2.  Watto Bay Pub

    3.  Strop's Pub in Byron (although that is probably not a beer garden as such)
