Which is a better area to stay for 4 nites in Nice ... near the beach or near the station ???

keep in mind iv never been to nice b4 and im going on holiday there for 4 nites in october... these are the reasons i ask please let me know where and why ... thanx

I would say to stay near the beach...You got to keep in mind that nice is not such a big city, So if you can find a hotel next from the      

"vieux nice"(old town)that s perfect.You ll be to walking distance from the "ballade des anglais"this long walk next to the beach,and you ll find as well lots of restaurant and pubs for the night..And from my memories that s the more beautifull place in Nice.Around the station there are lots of nice "boutique"for shopping,but I think you can walk there(just check on a map)but for night life old town is definitely better
