  1. I say, go to a pet store.

    You'll find animals there.

  2. One of them that aren't a big chain would be the best place to go. There may be a better chance that the rats are socialized at a small pet shop instead of a large chain.

You CAN buy one from Petsmart or Petco but chances are it will not be socialized and/or in tip-top health. Petco/Petsmart/Pet Supplies Plus/etc. should be the LAST place that you look for a pet to purchase.

  3. any pet store close to you it  doesn't really matter.

  4. i got my chinchilla from petsmart. Hes perfectly healthy.

  5. Either one, it really doesn't matter.

The thing about it is those rats at petco and petsmart are usually used as feeders for snakes, etc. So if you got one of those you would be possibly saving a life.

You could also look into adopting!! I know that Petco takes in animals that are not wanted or cannot be takin care of anymore and tries to adopt them out to a good home. You could look into that.

Rats are very calm and sociable animals so for tameness differences their is none.

I wish you lived by me. We have like 6 baby rats we are trying to adopt out now! And they are VERY sweet!!

  6. New York City has some good well fed rats.

  7. well, Petco and Petsmart have their animals fixed. and for some reason the animals dont last as long (sad isn't it D: ) I suggest a somewhere like Russel feed. (my pet outlived normal age :3)

  8. The problem with rats is that they, well, breed like rats.   They're probably more inbred than Dalmatians.

Mine was basically a 'feeder rat' that I bought for $2 at a pet store.    The little guy lived for five years, finally succumbing to a tumor on his side.

I think there are some bred for more than just snake food ... "fancy rats", I believe is the term.   I'd also believe that they wouldn't last any longer than mine.

  9. your attic, garage, back yard

  10. Petsmart!!!!! I got my rat there and it lived for like 4 years. I also got my hamster there and it was very nice, so was the rat. It lived a long time too. But my friend got her rat at petco and it was blind and they didnt tell her.

    so hope i help

please put me as best answer

  11. One that isn't a big chain.  Try to shop locally.

  12. I would try to find a breeder in your area and buy from them.  It is cheaper and less risk of diseses.  We have bought 2 from our local breeder.  Rats work well in pairs, so it is best to get two.  They like to be played with quite a bit.
