Go for HDMI!  Component is very poor quality compare to HDMI, oh, don't  fall for those  expensive 1080P HDMI cable at bestbuy .  Just buy the cheap HDMI cable for $9.99 at walmart, it same thing quality (95%).  And make sure to buy the length that you need, extra length will cause a loss in video.  50 ft or more might require a HDMI extender.

HDMI. component is only for video. HDMI does both hight def video and audio.

HDMI is the best for video and audio. But you need to have a receiver with decoder new HD sound formats via HDMI 1.3a to get the better surround sound.
