BVI - hands down. I have been to Florida, Hawaii (two islands), California and 80% of the Caribbean islands.

the British Virgin Islands are by far the best place to be - period.

What is your budget? How long will you be there for? Unfortuantely August is right up against hurricane season so you have to be careful. If you can swing it I definitely recommend chartering a boat and sailing around the islands. There is nothing like it in the world.

If you want to stay on land I recommend Virgin Gorda or Tortola. VG is more remote while Tortola is the capital of the BVIs so you have a more city feel (if that's possible down there).

If you give me your top five things you want ranked in order I can help you find a place if the BVIs don't sound like your place.

I would say Caribbean.  There is alot to do & see, from nightlife to cuisine and beaches to die for.  From layed back isolation to buseling cities.  Theres something for everybody
