Which pays more? Which is easier? I really want to go to college someday and take courses in one of those fields.

  1. Take if from me...they are both difficult jobs. Body work is more physical requiring more back breaking work. But being a mechanic is no picnic in the park either.

  2. auto body, my husband went to collage for it and loved it, he likes being able to paint flames lol

  3. auto body

  4. Auto body, although each career path requires specialized skills.

The big question is: why do you want to know which one is easier?

Neither career choice is particularly work-free, and I cannot imagine any prospective employer hiring a trainee who wants the "easier" career.

An ASE Certified Master Technician (about which I am sure you will learn at a later date) can pretty much write his/her ticket at any reputable repair facility.

Translation: pretty decent money is there, if you know your (expletive deleted).

Here's the catch: Ain't nothin' easy about fixing cars. And it is just getting tougher. New technologies mean new challenges to experienced Techs. The old "grease monkey" days are as dead as B&W TV.

Take some advice from Uncle Cider: do not enter this profession if you do not want to work hard. Do not enter this profession if you aspire to be fabulously wealthy. Do not enter this profession if you hate washing your hands. Do not enter this profession if you are easily offended.

Do, however, enter this profession if you enjoy solving complex problems, pitting your wits against automobile engineers and neglectful drivers, and putting relieved smiles on the faces of your customers.

  5. My boyfriend is a mechanic and he said auto body. But both are ok.

  6. body
