  1. Bankrate.com provides cd rates, mortgage loan rate quotes for home loans, mortgages, home equity loan, auto loans, and the best credit cards and banks around.

  2. You've gotten good answers so far.  Personally, I use Wachovia for everything because it is very convenient for me, I don't pay fees for anything and I have never had a problem with them.  I believe they are highly rated for customer satisfaction.

I would only point out that you may want to consider a credit union.  They offer the same kinds of products as banks but usually with lower (if any) fees for many things as well as other benefits.  One thing they are well known for is lower interest rates on loans.  Just search for credit union and your city and state to see what's in the area and if you qualify to join.  Credit unions are for members so there is usually some restrictions but they are much more available now than ever before.  One I looked at today basically said if you live, work, go to church or are in their area a lot made you eligible to join.  That makes it pretty wide open to join.

    Good luck.

  3. It really dos not matter which bank you choose, other than convenience, BUT, compare their cost structure. For checking look into maintenance fees, monthly fees, set up fees, overdraft fees, check fees, bad check fees, late payment fees, account closure fees.

For savings, look into interest rate, how often it is compounded, fees associated with this account, minimum balance, etc.

  4. give your money to me

  5. Safest Banks, Insurance Companies, etc...

    1) Go to www.thestreet.com where you can find the Weiss Safety Rating for banks in your area.  At the "Portfolios and Tools" tab, go to "Bank & Thrifts Screener".

Change the list # on teh right to 100 (from 20) and choose your state and those rated "A" ans "Search", or you can look up a bank close to you by bank's name.

or 2) Go to www.thestreetratings.com for a list of the strongest banks in several states.

At the "Ratings Online" tab drop down to "Stongest and Weekest Banks and Thrifts" for the list.  The weekest you definitely want to stay away from regarless of their service costs.

  6. I know nothing about Wamu, sorry.

But I do like Wachovia. If you refer someone also, you get $25! :)
