Which is a healthier choice: chinese food or Fast foods(McDonald's)?

Which of those two are better to eat/healthier choice esp. if your on a diet?

  4. Without being heavily judgemental about it the comparison is a little lopsided. McDonald's has a fixed menu and has been know as the premiere "junk food" choice of its critics.And a generation of young people have been eating it and drinking coke, because in some strange way this is "cool".  Even in China!

    Chinese Food on the other hand has a variety that includes almost every sort of dietary choice. From vegetarian noodle delights that are actually good for you, to the varieties of poultry, fish and meat dishes. Despite some problems with MSG which most of them do not use anyway, I think that Chinese food offers the best variety and taste of all the different cuisines of the world.

    As a South East Asian resident I have the choice of all these dishes and more(we also have Indian!!).

    I had my last big Mac a year ago at an airport somewhere.

  5. American Chinese food vs. American McDonalds... a tough one. Maybe if you get veggies at the Chinese food place or a salad at McDonalds.

  6. i would go for Chinese food. McDonald's is very bad for you! At least with Chinese there are a lot of vegetable choices and obviously stay away from fried foods. A lean choice is possible, like soy and vegetables. Instead of fried rice have steamed rice etc...

    But if you add all the dressing and whatnot it won't be the healthier choice!

    Not all Chinese restaurants add MSG to their dishes. If you're lucky enough to find one, that is.

  9. McD's salads can have over 600 calories if you check the menus... with dressing.  

    Chinese food you can choose steamed veggies and rice etc. it just depends on the types of food you are ordering.  

    If you go with overall caloric intake I would say Chinese is definately the way to go.  Both choices have low fat/calorie menu items, it all depends on how you order your food.

  10. I disagree with Danny -- First, not all Chinese food has MSG in it. The majority of Chinese food does not include MSG.  Also, Danny needs to learn to spell -- it is "whether" not "weather" which refers to climate.

    To answer your question more adequately, I would say that Chinese food is the healthier for several reasons.

    a)  Most Chinese food is steamed or grilled or a soup and there is very little fried food. Even the stir fried food uses very little oil and uses more sauces for the cooking process.

    b)  Asian food, including all Chinese styles, have more vegetables and less meat in the dishes.

    c)  Most Asian foods use very fresh foods and therefore have no preservatives compared with McDonalds which use foods that are rarely fresh and has large quantities of preservatives which can be harmful over a long period.

    d)  When Asians use salt, it is to compliment the food, and can rarely be tasted as it can be with Fast foods, especially on Chips (French Fries) or on Fried Chicken. Salt hardens the arteries and is a cause of heart attacks.

    e)  Asians use more garlic which is a food that helps with increased body health.

To tell you the truth both of these foods are REALLY fattening and should only really be eaten rarely. but if your on a diet you should try some of McDonald's salads there good but to tell you the truth there salads are kinda fattening as well. so really neither is good for a diet. you should try buying diet foods at the grocery store.

  12. that's a toughie....maybe a salad from Mc D's cuz chinese has sooo much MSG weather they admit it or not
