  1. It depends.  Both can be very effective punches for knockouts.  The punch that does the most damage is a punch that you don't see coming.  So, a straight followed up with a hook is your best option.

A hook right behind the ear will throw your equilibrium off even if it's not a hard punch.  So, if I had to pick one punch over the other, I would go with a hook.

  2. The answer to this question is neither. It would depend on who is throwing the punch and where the punch lands opposed to what type of punch it is.

Knockout in general are most effective when you don't see it coming. If you see it coming you can fade off the punch. In other words go with the punch. If you don't you are going down. The punch has to be in the right place. We like to all it the button. Whenever you hit the button something terrible is going to happen.

  3. With boxing Gloves a left hook.

Without boxing Gloves a straight punch can cause a lot of damage.

  4. both work in the same way

  5. A straight, you can get your body behind a straight and thus generate more power in the punch.

  6. hook

  7. a hook no doubt maybe not as powerfull as less muscle.weight and leverage are used but you see far more KOs with a hook because often they dont see it coming in a counter

  8. My vote is for the hook as a higher percentage technique, especially if you hit the button. You can certainly knock someone out with a cross, but the mechanics of getting hit in the button vs. the straight make it much more likely that the hook will be the knockout.

  9. it really depends on how good you are on ether of them if you have a  good hook then there you go us your hook your not really thinking in a ring your doing what comes to you frist !!

  10. Hook ... done right, it often catches an opponent by surprise.

  11. I think it's a hook, since if you connect you've obviously had time to swing your arm, as opposed to a quick short straight shot.

  12. If you talk to Joe Frazier, it was the hook.  If you talk to Thomas Hearns, it was "straight", although I'd call it a cross.

To answer your Q, I'd say whichever one you were best at throwing.
