  1. YOUR BBT will only tell you AFTER you ovulated...so it's not good for predicting...

Cervical mucous and opk are more reliable for predicting and if your tmep rises for three days after then you have confirmation!

  2. to be honest, neither.

  3. I don't know which is more reliable, but as far as ease of use, definitely the ovulation kit is easier.  Can't get much easier than peeing on a stick!!  I had very good luck with the ClearBlue Easy kit.

  4. Well they both do different things.

Ovulation strips detect that your body is preparing to O, this gives you about 24-48 hours heads up that you may be ovulating soon.

BBT confirms you indeed ovulated by showing your temps have risen and remained elevated.

  5. Ovulation strip

  6. really neither one of them. the best time we ladies ovulate is two weeks before period and two weeks after your period. I have learn some simple things to help with becoming pregnant so if you like you may email me and I will tell you some things you may want to try

  7. I personally chose an ovulation monitor.  It can inform you when you are ovulating that month.  And with bbt, it's best to do it for a few months and then see where the pattern is.  And once you notice your rise in tempature, the window of opportunity is already gone.  It just seems easier to me for the opk.  Good luck

  8. The strips are definitely easier in my opinion.  I used the expensive brand and the $1 ones from the dollar tree until I realized that the cheap ones were just as accurate.  From then on, I used the $1 tests; they worked great.

  9. It depends on your unique body and cost factors, both techinques have pros and cons. To explore the two options and which may be best for you go to this site: http://www.babycenter.com/0_ovulation-pr...

    Good luck!

  10. I've used both at the same time and each is very accurate.  If you use the basal body temp. it won't cost you much over the long term whereas ovulation predictor kits can be fairly costly.  I like to use the temp. method since it will also tell me when to expect my period or if there is a problem with my luteal phase.  It can also show you if you have a thyroid problem.  The book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler is a great resource if you chose to go this route.  I achieved two pregnancies with that book as my guide.

  11. Ovulation test strips are helpful so that you know when you are most fertile but if you want to know the exact day you ovulated then BBT will tell you that.

Remember though, that BBT is only helpful if you're actually charting so that you can have a history of temperature spikes and it will help you pinpoint when you actually ovulate in your cycle.

  12. I have always just relied on my cervical mucous.  I would say out of your two choices the BBT is more reliable.

  13. I agree - go with cervical fluids.  When it has an eggwhite consistancy, you're fertile.  Your BBT is accurate as well, but you only know you ovulated AFTER the fact.  Once you get the rise in temp, it means you've ovulated the day before...  It's good to help you find a pattern but don't wait for the spike to decide when to have s*x...

ovulation kits are good too - if you have the money and don't mind spending it, why not!?

    Good luck!
