Which is a "better" driver....Big Bertha 460 or Nike Sumo2 ?

I know this is comparing apples to oranges. I am just curious, if any of you have experience with these two very different drivers. Right now I own the Big Bertha 460, and Im not exactly Thrilled about it. I had more consistency and more accuracy with my $50 "Affinity Cube" than I do with this one. Is it possible I just got used to a square head driver, and it is easier for me to hit ? So there lies my problem....the Nike Sumo2 is a square head, so im flirting with the Idea of getting one. Or can anyone suggest another square head that would fall in this same price range ?

  1. GO WITH NIKE!!! I am 14 years old an have a nike sasquatch and nike ignite irons and love them! I hit my sasquatch everytime strait and far!!! I am 14 years old and shooting in the mid 30's for 9 holes!!! I love the way the new sumo's look as well!!! They have huge heads and r very sleek!!! I hoped this will comment will help you in the future!!! Don't get the square sumo, get the regular 1! The squard 1 sounds like a metal bat and goes "clank" everytime u rip it!!!

  2. Well Callaway makes a square driver too(Ft-I).  They're pretty similar(the Nike and the Callaway).  Similar distance off the tee.  The ball flight of the Nike driver is higher and they're both loud at impact.  Some don't like the sound, but I do.  It kind of reminds me of a softball bat.  I'm partial to the Nike driver since I play Nike equipment.  I play the Sumo.  There are other companies that make square drivers:  Nickent 3DX Tour Square, Adams Insight XTD a3, and the Wilson Spine.  As far as whether you got used to the square head or not, I doubt it.  I hit a square driver(Nike Sumo2) last year, but it had too much loft.  I went back to my old Nike forged driver and hit that well.  I play the Sumo 5000 now and love it.  The Sumo2 sets up closed to me and I didn't like that, though I never hit it.

  3. You have to try them, feel is everything.   If you are just comparing the technology, company A-Z offers almost the same tech.   HIGH CG, HIGH MOI, bla bla bla.

  4. go with the nike , they are the most advanced company with square heads , the research development , headed by tom sykes , he brought out a square headed driver 1993 to 1995 . during this period he was head of research cevelopment , accurform golf canada . holds same position with nike . these clubs are the best drivers available . great distance , very accurate , most forgiving driver on the market . also usuable all handicap levels . do not hesitate , great price . i am senior will be going to 13 degree s son as canada drops price . have great season .

  5. The Sumo2 sucks, plain and simple, that why Tiger doesn't even use it.  Try the Ft-i, a square head from Callaway, much more advanced than SchNike...  Also, try the new Taylor Made Burner, not the tour model, the Burner from last year, easy as heck to hit straight, nice sound, instills confidence at address, all around a nice club for an average golfer.  It you are a little better golfer I would seriously look at the Ft-i or Ft-5, both nice clubs.  Personally, I use the FT-5 with a Graffaloy ProLauch Red shaft, which works out great.  Even the old Taylor Made R580XD is not a bad driver and you can probably find that for $50 used somewhere.

The better of you two drivers in by bar the Bertha...  Nike sucks.....
