  1. I think the Cleveland was considered the meaty engine of the two.


  2. The 4 bolt Cleveland is a stronger build.  Able to take the increased pressures & stresses of higher torques & horsepower.  It has it's drawbacks:

    1. Heavier

    2. Larger overall

    3. More expensive to build

    4. Only in production for 5 years making parts harder to find

  3. The Cleveland is stronger built and a helluva lot heavier. It's a big block type mass of iron like the 390 where the Windsor is a small block like a 302.

  4. The Windsor motor belongs to Ford's small block family and the Cleveland belongs to the big block family.  Generally, big block motors are capable of withstanding higher horsepower and torque output due to their having thicker rods, larger main caps and bolts, larger diameter push rods, etc.
