Which is best for me? Electrolysis or Laser Hair Removal?

I have very dark and thick hair. And my skin is also sensitive. I am sick to death of shaving, and I've used depilatory creams, waxes and tweezing methods b4....didnt like any of them so I went back to shaving b/c its the only one that doesnt hurt as much or leave a nasty smell on my skin or a rash, and I tweeze my eye brows too.

Shaving is still time consuming and since my hair grows back rather quickly I find myself shaving my underarms every other day (sometimes everyday) so I have to shell out for shaving creams and razors many times a month. I dont make much money either so that's pretty sad for me :( (I'm 20 and in college so you can imagine how broke I am)

I used to take cosmetology classes at my high school and my teacher was a professional cosmetologist and owns her own salon. She was talking about hair removal methods when we got to that chapter and she told me that Electrolysis is indeed permanent (but i do keep hearing that it's not permanent "forever", but as long as it's permanent in some way im good lol) but expensive. I know that Lazer Hair Removal is expensive as well.

From everyone who have done either of them, can you tell me which was the best choice for you and which do you think is the best choice for me? Let me remind you that I have sensitive skin and really dark and thick hair lol. I am DESPIRATE to get one of these methods done, I am really sick of shaving and if I get to stop doing this for atleast a month, I'm good.

Also, the price is not much of an option for me - I mean I dont make much money but I'll shell out any amount of money for this as long as I get the results I want, I really dont care. I'd also like to know how and where can I find a reputable place that does this there where I live (Tampa, FL). Thank you very much!! Your help means A LOT to me!!!!!!!!!!! :)

  1. Have you considered pulsed light hair removal? I think thats the absolute most modern hair removal technique uses pulses of light to fry the follicles without as much discomfort as lasers. I'm looking at getting it for my hairy back lol. Not sure about cost tho ive heard its expensive

  2. Go see a Cosmetic Surgeon or a Dermatologist to have this done. I believe the more popular of the two is probably the Electrolysis. Yes, it is expensive and can be a little time consuming, but the only person I ever knew that had this done said that the doctor does it until the root of the hair is dead and won't come back....ever.

I am very light and fair-skinned, dark blonde and even I would love to have Electrolysis done, but someone that checked into this told me it really only works on people that have dark, course hair. That eliminated me right there. Unfortuately, I am stuck with a safety razor and Nair for the rest of my life. At least my hair grows a little slower than yours does. I also had a few laser treatments done on my face by a Esthecian that worked for a Cosmetic Surgeon and honestly, it really did hurt quite a bit for a few days. It was similar to having a bad sunburn. She blistered my skin for about 8 days and didn't charge me for the first treatment. I really and truly looked as if someone had beaten my face. That is why I would opt out for the Electrolysis method rather than Laser Treatments.

Best of luck to you!!   ☺
