hard to answer if u dont give which sub grade ur looking at go by sub specs which ever one has highest rms rating if u want it to be as loud as possible or if u want ur  car to rattle go by which ever sub has a heaver magnet, in any case looking at Alpine SWR-1222D and the MB Quart PWH 302 which are camparable subs the alpine is better because it can handle more power 1500 peak compared to 1000 (both have 500 rms) peak of the mb quart and the both offer a  120oz ferrite magnet and the alpine can therefore sound louder 87 db compared to the MB having only 85 db of sound pressure. GET THE ALPINE TYPE R :)

Alpine type R are incredibly tough and can handle quite a beating. They are hit very hard and also sound good. MB Quart is a declining company whose products arent found at many shops. You really have to listen to speakers before you buy them. Id take the type R's over the mbs.
