Which is better, Canon HV20 or Canon HF10?

i'm deciding which of the 2 should i get.

HV20 uses miniDV cassette while HF10 uses SD hi-capacity. i like HF10 than HV20 but after reading the specs of HF10, it scared me off because it uses MPEG3 format. but it's using H.264 video codec.

does this make any difference?? which would you prefer to get?

  1. I'd go with the HV20 - you've got more options.  There are also details about the HF10 that I don't like such as no viewfinder, and joystick focusing rather than a thumbwheel.

  2. dont get anything that already compresses your footage.  It doesn't matter that its compressed to H.264.

Go with anything that is regular SD, don't fool with any HDV c**p because it's not true HD anyway.  Just stick with regular SD and instead learn how to light properly.  If your footage is well and properly lit, then it's gonna look better than something you threw together with HDV.  Try to borrow a camera and spend some money instead on a good lighting setup.  Check stuff out on eBay and you can get some great deals on lights.  Besides, with lights you can rent them out and get some return.  Also if you learn to light, you make yourself more valuable.

  3. I love my sanyo hd1000 I can edit in camera or in my hook up  500 gb hdd ,

hd editing, cut and join in minutes try that in tape (over nighter) it tranfer my hd video to a calender

chart day to save , and can play it off your hdd without a computer. too cool.only one can do this .I think its the 3th best sharpest video cam in that price range.unreal resolution you are there.
