I am a Northener. Therefore I believe The North to be much better than the south. What do you think?

  1. South of England is way better, i prefer the countryside, it's much more green and gentle and there are good links to London and Europe.

Plus usually better weather (e.g. today - London: sunny, 22C whereas Leeds: cloudy 17C)

    There's no contest

  2. A general answer for a general question...for me I would say the SOUTH.

  3. What do you mean by "better"? there are good and bad things about the North and the South.

Personally I would rather live in the South because of the better weather, easier access to Europe for holidays, etc.

  4. Better for what? You can not make a sweeping generalization like this and expect factual answers.

  5. I live in Brum at the mo, and I always ask the locals to choose a side- say, for example, we had a civil war, which side would they support?

It seems that people who aren't either Northern or Southern don't care.

I do, though. Northern all the way. Why do I support the North?

    THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION

... where would we be without that little gem, hey?

  6. I'm Yorkshire born and bred, so I'd be inclined to say that the North is better. However, I'm not one to make huge generalisations. There are good places and bad places in the North of England, and the same goes for the South.

I can think of places in the North where I would not want to live at all - not naming any places as I wouldn't like to offend anyone! But I can also think of lovely places in the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District where I love to spend my time.

Having not spent too much time in the South, I can't really think of good and bad places off hand. However, there are bound to be places which are good, places which are bad - exactly the same as anywhere else!

That said, I don't think I'd move down South, but that's more a matter of personal preference and the fact that all my family live up North.
