So my mom is buying a crossover, and we have wittled it down to the ford edge, and the nissan murano. We would like to know which is better for the long run (example durability, and resale value).

  1. Nissan is better than the ford, but niether are that great in longevity, or resale. If you want Longevity and great resale, try a toyota or honda.

  2. i love my nissan murano.  i've had since 2006 an no problems!  i have been off road in it too! :)  fords suck!

  3. Nissan Murano. The Ford EDGE was an excellent attemp by Ford to win the crown of the best crossover, but they missed some small things that are really necissary to make a great car. The major complaints on the EDGE was the lack of a footrest for the driver, and a very long braking distance.

I terms of resale value, reliability, safety records, and overall quality, the Nissan will be better. Though with this said, the Ford has recieved excellent safety ratings and has proven to be very reliable.

What I would do is wait a year if possible before your purchase. In a year, the Ford will remove most of the kinks in the EDGE and Murano will either prove to be reliable or unreliable.

I would wait on the Murano because lots of Nissan Vehicals have horendous reliability fr the first year, then Nissan tweaks them and they get better.

But, if you were purchasing now, I would definitly take a look at the Mazda CX7 or, if you would like a third row seat, the Hyundai Veracruz is an excellent choice. The Hyundai looks really cool. It is suppose to look like the Lexus RX350, but form the back it reminds me of an Audi.

    Good Luck

  4. I have a 2004 Murano and love it.  It's roomy, but has a great ride since it's built on a car chassis.  I've told my husband that if Nissan quits making the Murano I'm buying one and putting it in storage until the one I'm driving wears out.  Then I'll have a new one to drive.

  5. well, if i had to choose, the nissan....but i would never buy it myself--try a TOyota Rav 4 or a Toyota Matrix- I have the Rav 4 and my best friend has a Matrix-We liked them both MUCH better than any other brand--honda was our #2 choice-the Matrix gets better mpg than my Rav 4 though....

  6. For my money I would buy the Ford as they have made drastic improvements in quality in the last few years (they are now equal with Toyota). I have owned several Ford's as well as German and Japanese imports and other American makes. The Ford's have always been the most reliable, dependable vehicles at the lowest cost to own for me. That is my persona opinion.

Now here is the expert's opinion. They ranked the Murano 1st among a comparison test of 5 crossover vehicles including the Ford Edge which they ranked 3rd. Here's a link to the comparison test Car and Driver did.

Good luck I hope this helps!

  7. the ford edge is actually really impressive. It went up in reliability ratings, and it is incredibly fun to drive.

If it really came down to the importnat things, i'd have to go with the nissan. The nissan is the safest crossover out there, to say the least. It's reliable, fun to drive, has decent handling, and is not too bad on the MPG.

If your looking for more features, go for the edge.

if your looking for safety, go for the Murano.

  8. nissan.
