If you aren't going to hang it on the wall, Neither.

Get a Samsung DLP.

It's a far better technology.

The life on DLP is forever... as long as you replace the lamp when it burns out after 50,000 + hours of viewing time.

Plasma is better for fast-motion things like sports. LCD is better for things like displaying pictures ect. The reason is that LCDs can sometimes have a "ghosting" effect on really fast motion pictures but these days LCDs are just about up to par with plasmas as far as fast motion goes. Just get an LCD with an 8ms response time or better and you should be fine. Plasmas can also have "burn-in" which is where if you leave a picture on the screen too long, the picture can literally be burned into the screen permanently. Plasmas also consume more energy and run hotter than LCDs. Plasma displays also have a shorter life-span than LCD. The only drawback with LCD is, if you want a big tv, LCD will typically be more expensive than plasma. But I personally would go with LCD.

PS: I would not get DLP. They are the cheapest way to get a high-def big screen, but they are big and bulky and you have to replace a bulb that costs $300-$400 every 5 years or so. An LCD's life-span ranges anywhere from 10-15 years. I personally think LCD is the most reliable technology. IMO

Plasma is better for your viewing pleasure. Plasma has better contrast, wider viewing angles, and faster video response times.
