Which is better: 2 Alpine 10" Type-S subs or 1 Alpine 12" Type-R sub?

i currently have 1 alpine 12" type-r sub in my car but i got an offer to trade them for 2 alpine 10" type-s subs. should i keep the 1 type-r or get the 2 type-s's

By better I'm assuming you mean louder? What that is, is dBSPL, or decible sound pressure level. The higher the sound pressure level the more sound there is. Even though the two subs have a smaller diamter, if you were to measure the dBSPL it would be WAY higher than one 12 inch. The other thing is that you can run two subs with less power to produce the same amount of sound as one; theoretically. I had one 12" Type R and blew it with 700 watts..... It was rated for what, 1000 watts? I would definatly go with two ten's.

take the 2 12"s... a type R is not that much better. it's not like it's a type X

2 10's as long as you have the power to push them.

I'd keep the 12" regardless of how much power you have.  It's a better sub.
