  1. Answer # 1 is right, for paper , is much better, but your eyes just cant tell the defence, to play  with TEST equipment , yes. but our eyes to movies , less than 0.001 % of people notic the small defence.Try you self ?

  2. I will answer the second question first.  I stands for interlaced and P is for progressive.  An interlaced video signal draws everyone other line first and then comes back and fills the ones in between, usually with the same signal for that line.  This is done to reduce flicker, especially in the older days of NTSC (now known as 480i).

Progressive draws all of the lines in sequence, each line different than the one before.

So 1080p would have more resolution than 1080i since it would have 1080 unique lines, but 1080i would only have 540.  Still not shabby, but only half the resolution.

Regarding 720 vs 1080, the answer is going to depend on whether there is an i or a p on the end of the numbers.  720p would have more resolution than 1080i; since 720 would have 720 unique lines, but 1080i only has the aforementioned 540 unique lines.  Obviously, 1080 would win out if there were both i's or both p's  (720p vs 1080p) or (720i vs 1080i).

720p is more commonly in the video pro industry than 720i.  And 1080i is more commonly found than 1080p.  So, assuming the most common forms of both formats (720p vs 1080i), then 720 would win.

  3. 1080 will give a better picture than 720. This is a measurement of lines (rows). The more lines, the clearer the picture.

1080i - The i stands for interlaced. It will put in all of the odd number rows, then it will go back and insert the even numbered rows. TV's usually do that to limit flicker, because it paints the screen half as often. They do that now to limit bandwidth. The older TV's with NTSC all had interlaced pictures.

1080p - The p stands for progressive. It puts in all of the rows starting from the top and ending in the bottom. This is the best picture you can have in the HDTV standard.

  4. 1080 is over the 720 but it is all about your budget and what you can afford..  I would go go Plasma over Lcd... After learning everything needed and watching my friends new plasma I definately would go with Plasma.... The vibrant colors cannot be beat.. You can learn alot about both on line and then decide... Don't believe anyone who says Plasmas will only last so long.. The new ones out will go 60,000-100,000 hours of viewing... I would not use my plasma for video games tho..read before you buy and then be the judge...
