Which is better: A Bank or a Credit Union?

I'm about to open up my first checking account and savings account. I am 16 yrs old and i need to start saving up for college!

  1. Credit Unions usually have better rates and not as many fees as normal banks.  Credit unions have a limited amount of deposit atms but most credit unions let you use the atm to withdraw at 7 Eleven or Costco


  2. easy question, credit unuon is better cause they pay higher savings rates and charge lower loan rates.  this might not matter now but it will later.  make sure you get a checking account with NO monthly maintanance fees.  if they charge a monthly fee to keep the account open, per check, etc go somewhere else to open the account.

  3. You will probably get a better interest rate at a credit union. But they tend to have few locations than a bank.
