  1. The steel water bottles are better because, through time, the plastic BPA-free water bottles will eventually wear out, forcing you to recycle them. Whereas with steel water bottles, they will last you for a long time. Plus, theyre very stylish.

Make sure that if you do buy aluminum water bottles, that they are lined with a coating, since the aluminum will leach and (as you have probably heard before) there are links with aluminum and Alzheimer's disease.

  2. Do they make steel water bottles?  I would go with BPA free if nothing else they are easier to find.

  3. I personally have switched to steel, it seems no matter what plastic you use there seems to be some risk. I'm avoiding plastics as much as possible.

  4. Stainless steel water bottles are better for both concerns! They are non leaching, making them healthier. They also last much longer, use less energy to create, produce less waste as a byproduct of their production and keep liquids cooler longer meaning less need to refrigerate.

  5. The metal is better- there is no leaching.  Actually, I believe they are aluminum but they have done several studies showing no leaching, when new or used.  I recently purchased Sigg bottles for myself and my two kids and we love them.  (Bought them at Whole Foods.)  The water tastes CLEAN, not like plastic.

    Peace.
