Question:

Which is better Blackberry Curve 8330 or Palm Centro (for Sprint)?

I currently have the Palm Centro. I like it a lot. I like the small size, the QWERTY keyboard and many other things. I use the phone, calendar, memo, tasks, on Demand to check weather and news, Text Messaging, IM's, and Sprint Mobile for Mail (Yahoo, Gmail, etc.), and I like that it alerts me whenever I get mail from Yahoo and Gmail.

It doesn't have a GPS where it can detect where I am. It has Google Maps which is kind of like MapQuest. I wish it had a real GPS though. I'm thinking about switching to BlackBerry Curve 8330. It seems a little bigger in size, not sure if it alerts me whenever I get new mail in Yahoo and Gmail. It has a GPS. But I'm not convinced it's better though. I think I also have to subscribe to Blackberry connection which is another $15/month.

Does anybody have experience with Blackberry? Any opinions about which is better for my needs?

  1. The GPS feature on the Blackberry is a separate program; it is not free.  It's called TeleNav, and it can be downloaded on the Palm as well.

Official Link: http://www.telenav.com/files/download/ (it's actually under the Palm Treo part, lol)

Yes, Blackberry will alert you if you get new email from Yahoo or Gmail, and it supports Yahoo Go, if you want to get that.  Chances are, with your Palm you already subscribe to a data plan, so you'll still have to do the same with the Blackberry; it's around the same price, if not exactly the same.  (It is with AT&T.)

You don't need to switch phones.  Look into TeleNav (it might even be on your menu somewhere) and getting that on your Palm; I believe it's $10 a month.  If you like the Centro, stick with it.

  2. I have a Blackberry Curve and LOVE it.

I easily synch with my outlook and have the google package downloaded. I have about 50 songs downloaded - that I mostly use for ringtones, because I still love my MP3 player.

    Can't imagine needing anything else.
