  1. It depends on your individual situation. You may need to consider your personal preferences. MBA is more generic when compared to CFA, which is Financial oriented. You may also want to consider cost of each of these. Read more details here:

  2. it depends on what context your'e asking.  for me, the CFA was a much higher return on investment, b/c the CFA, in total, will only cost you several thousand dollars tops, but it will open as many doors for you as an MBA as as far as interviews go.  The CFA gets much respect.

So say you're going for some sort of securities analysis job in New York, you're better off having a CFA than an MBA from some second tier school.  However, I would say that in the end, an MBA from a top school like MIT, Harvard, Chicago, NYU, etc is better than a CFA.  But it's also much more expensive.   Now, if your employer is paying all costs, then cost may not be an issue.  Some MBA programs, like NOrthwestern's, are geared more towards management, so you want to watch for that as well.

  3. If finance is something you would want to do, then CFA. MBA can open doors to general consulting, and management roles.

CFA = few thousand dollars, well recognized, lot of self preparation, focus on investment sciences

MBA = useful if from top 10-15, very expensive, more generic

  4. Both, an MBA and then the CFA.
