  1. I think both of them are very good. The Riu chains are very well known. There is not that big of a difference. When you have a Palacebracelet, you can visit the other palace hotel also, and the other Riu hotels (Riu Tequila, Playacar and Yucatan) In the Riu Tequila there is a disco, you can go there if you want.

    Personally i would go for the Riu Palace Mexico, because its closer to the other Riu hotels, so they are easier to visit. (Riu Tequila is across the Riu Palace and the Yucatan and Playacar are right next to it.) When you choose the Riu Palaca Riviera Maya you will be further away from all of those hotels and it will make it more difficult to visit them.

    In both of the Palace hotels there are a lot of restaurants.

    In the Riu Palace Riviera Maya you will have these:

    - restaurant 'Don Manolo'

    - Brazilian restaurant 'Botafogo'

    - Gourmet restaurant 'Sir Oliver'

    - Japanese restaurant 'Yashima'

    - Mexican restaurant 'Agave'

    - Restaurant at the swimmingpool

    And some bars:

    * Lobbybar 'La Habana'

    * Salonbar 'Lírico' with terras

    * Sports bar

    * Bar 'La Plaza'

    * Poolbar 'Daiquirí' with swim-up bar

    In the Riu Palace Mexico you have more variation with the restaurants:

    * restaurant 'Don Julian'

    * Gourmet restaurant 'Sir Edward'

    * restaurant 'La Bodega'

    * Japanese restaurant 'Miyagi'

    * Beachrestaurant 'El Patio'

    * Beachrestaurant 'La Traviata'

    And the bars:

    * Lobbybar 'Bar Cubano'

    * Salonbar 'Los Mariachis' with terras

    * Bar 'El Kiosko'

    * Poolbar/swim-up bar 'Las Conchas'

    * beachbar

    Lunch:

    * Showcooking

    * Italian and Mexican kitchen

    Dinner:

    (in the restaurant 'Don Julián'):

    * Buffet and showcooking gerechten

    * Speciale evenings: three times a week a theme buffet

    * Brazilian kitchen 'Rodizio'

    * Grill-/Steakhouse

    * Gourmet restaurant 'Sir Edward'

    * Japanese restaurant 'Miyagi'

    Enjoy, it is a wonderful place to stay!

  2. I'm not exactly sure which is better of the two, but I have been to the Riu Palace Mexico and it is amazing. You not only get access to the Riu Palace but also two resorts right next to it. There are lots of island tours you can go on, and it really is a beautiful place to visit and escape reality.

  3. Simply put, the Riu Palace Riviera Maya is the newer of the two resorts and the property itself is more impressive.

    Food, drink, service, etc will be the same at either 2 properties.

    The beach at the Riu Palace Mexico is w/out a doubt much better.  The beach at the Riu Palace Riviera Maya is mostly washed away.

    Another thing to keep in mind, is the the Riu Palace Mexico is located on the same general complex as the Riu Tequila, Riu Playacar & Riu Yucatan, of which you would have exchange priveldges with.

    Also the RIu Palace Mexico typically prices out a few hundred dollars less per person per week.
