  1. My absolute favourite is Kyoto! There you have the best of both worlds; many temples and the feel of traditional Japan, but also very modern. Kyoto has the most beautiful railway station I have ever seen!

You can explore the city by bicycle or buy a one day bus ticket for only 500 yen.

It is especially beautiful in the beginning of april when the cherry blossoms bloom.

    Enjoy!

  2. Osaka is in upper mainland Japan and I heard it was like the country out there.

I'd definitley visit Tokyo for the full Japanese experience!

  3. Always choose the capital of a country to visit if it's the 1st visit unless you have specific reason.  Choose Tokyo if you have limited time & budget.  Otherwise do a tour: Tokyo - Osaka - Kyoto - Tokyo.

  4. go to Kyoto and then Osaka and then Tokyo.

    Oosaka meccha suki ya nen!

  5. Seeing Tokyo is spectacular.

  6. Well it depends on what excites you about Japan the most. Osaka and Kyoto are very close to each other only 30-60 minutes apart by train so I would suggest flying into KIX and statying in Osaka.

Osaka is easy to get around because of it's great public transportation system and friendly people. You can also find a wide variety of places to stay at affordable prices. I would start here and make it your base for trips to Kyoto and other places in the area.

Osaka: I would suggest a visit to Osaka-Jyo (Castle) for sure. As far as a place to stay I would stay in the Kita/Umeda area near the JR Station. You can find lots of great food and experience lively nightlife there plus tons of shopping in this area also. Umeda has a great big ferris wheel on top of the Hep-Five building with amazing views of the city especially at night. You can also have a great view from the floating garden on top of the Umeda Sky tower. The Aquarium in Osaka is excellent also. If you want to visit a theme park you can visit USJ (Universal Studios Japan) but I don't recomend it very much because it is the same as all the other Universal Studios.

Kyoto: Like I said it is very close to Osaka and you can see countless temples and shrines. Nijo-jo is very cool too. I would make sure to see Kinka-kuji (Golden Pavilion), Ginkakuji (Silver Pavilion) Ryoanji (Zen Rock Garden), Kiyomizudera (Large deck and view of Kyoto). Gion district is also a lot of fun to walk around and you may even find some Maiko or Geiko walking around.

Also I suggest visiting Kobe, Nara, and Himeiji if you are in the Kansai area.

  7. You could start with the Big, Bigger, Biggest approach.... save the best for last.... Kyoto < Osaka < Tokyo!!!!

  8. Tokyo, Ive been living here for almost 7 years.

  9. That really depends on what you’re looking for. But my first choice would be Kyoto, from where one can also get to Osaka and Nara quite quickly.

  10. Tokyo first, then Kyoto and Osaka...

But my japanese friends adviced me for Kyoto..hehe..

But it depends. If you are looking for a city full of entertainment, shopping, modern, then go for Tokyo.

    Yurp..Osaka-Jo is very famous..
