Which is better Vtech Vsmile or Leapfrog Leapster?

Question

I am trying to decide which one to get my son. Both look good and have good learning games. I know the Vsmile can be played on tv but that is not an issue. I heard those batteries go quick. Any suggestions?

Leapfrog Leapster, my little sister got one when she was four and it helped her to read and write and count!! She still uses it and she is almost 7!!

We have the Leapster L-Max. It also works on the TV, but beware... the graphics are kinda crummy on larger TVs. He usually plays it on the smallest one ( I think it's about 15") L-Max has a (separate purchase) rechargeable battery and charging base... makes up for the battery sucking.

Leap frog.  My daughter is five, my son three, and my other daughter is eighteen.  My eldest daughter was on leap frog and she was valedictorian.  I had VSmile for my son, it's more of a videogame.
