Which is better a 4 stroke jet ski or a 2 stroke ?

Like everyone has said 2 stroke is faster and quite a bit easier to work on however they do require more maintenance. There is one thing everyone failed to mention, if you do have a breakdown with a 4 stroke expect an astrinomical repair bill. Parts and labor on the big 4 strokes are insane although it is true they break down less.

2 stroke jet ski's have been around longer and more people are familiar with them, but the four stroke jet ski requires less maintenance and fuel costs better .....2 stroke cost more when you have to add the oil and they are usually faster ..... in general the four stroke will provide more pleasure to yo as it ages and the 2 stroke will have more maintenance issues so if money is a factor and keeping it on the water a four stroke is the best buy ..

four stroke engine is more dependable engine and will last longer between engine maint. just remember you will need a larger displacement 4 stroke engine ie 250cc two stroke is equal to around 450cc four stroke. you will not have to mix oil with the four stroke or replace pistons as often. you should be able to put about between 250-400 hours yearly

you can only buy four strokes now.twos are illegal.too much oil in the water.i had a kawi ultra 250 with a super on it.i got 2500 hours out of it.the service cost too much so i bought a new one.

yes if your looking to buy a new one all that is available is 4 stroke.if your lucky you might be able to get a used 2 stroke.if you want used 2 is the way to go.more torque=more speed!!!
