Well, if you have the sun for it, I suppose a solar oven.  You mean, like some kind of outdoor contraption, kickin' it old school?  Or do you mean one that runs on solar energy you get from solar panels?

But unless you have a LOT of sun and a good solar system, I'd have to go with gas.

Gas is the gold standard as far as the quality of the heat.  Ever heard the term, "now you're cookin' with gas"?

It means that you're getting it right, you're hot, you're on the mark.

Pros love gas ranges and gas ovens (unless they love wood-burning ovens, another possibility.)

Remember, ya have to cook with the thing.  If you're a serious chef, get gas and do your thing.

But environmentally speaking, of course solar would be better.

A solar oven is more energy efficient but cost more. A gas oven is good for your food but not that good to the environment.

This depends on your location and cooking skill, a warmer climate means higher temperatures and cheaper energy, i.e African nation where it is cheaper to exploit the sun and sell the gas to the west.

Gas ovens however are better for cooking as they can reach higher temperatures, which means specialist cooking skills can be developed.
