  1. Alton Towers!

  2. Drayton manor is designed for families of all ages and children from 4 to 11 seem to be better catered for. Alton towers is great for children 10 upwards and parents alike but sometimes the can be long waits for the rides,

  3. Drayton Manor did have a zoo (don't know if it does still).

Why pay for two adults to go into Alton Towers when you will be restricted as to what you go on, unless one of you wants to queue for an hour whilst the other looks after the children.

  4. Alton Towers is much better for adults....

  5. Well looking at the other answers, people still seem to have the impression that Alton Towers has nothing for kids, which is definitely no longer true! They're concentrating a lot of effort into families this year (and in the future).

For kids that age, Alton Towers is ideal. You've got:...

    "Storybook Land/Old McDonald's Farmyard":

    - Petting Zoo,

    - Old McD's Tractor Ride (tractor ride around a track),

    - Squirrel Nutty Ride (high-up ride above the park around a track),

    - Berry Bish Bash (shooting foam balls and stuff),

    - Riverbank Eye-Spy (themed boat ride),

    - Dungheap (kids playground area),

    - Doodle Doo Derby (farm-themed carousel).

    "Cred Street":

    - Driving School (kids drive electric cars around a themed area, get a "driving license" with their picture after they've "passed"),

    - Cred St Theatre (brilliant live interactive kid's show: singing, dancing, joining-in, etc),

    - Frog Hopper (goes up, down, bounces, etc),

    - Charlie and the Choc. Factory Ride (boat ride as in the movie),

    - Carousel,

    - Playground (huge bouncy castles, and smaller ones with other activities for smaller kids).

The 2-year-old might also appreciate the Pirate Show over in Mutiny Bay (the brand new pirate themed area).

There are also characters wandering around the park, especially in Mutiny Bay and Cred Street, as well as other small rides suitable for kids around the park. I certainly haven't mentioned everything, but Alton Towers is definitely no longer the thrill-seekers-only park that it used to have the reputation of, and I guarantee that you won't be short of things to do with the kids.

As you said you'll be taking them for "a few days", I guess you'll want to be staying over, so don't forget that Alton Towers has two on-site hotels (as it's now actually the "Alton Towers Resort"). There's the Alton Towers Hotel, or the Splash-Landings Hotel, which has a great waterpark (another place to take the kids!) and there's a brilliant crazy-golf course near to both of them. If you stay in one of the hotels, it also means you'll get to go on park an hour before everyone else in the morning, when all of the kids' areas will be open and working (although the big rides - Nemesis, Air, etc won't).

  6. Alton Towers. so much more to do besides all the rides, the gardens, the  house, never enough time to fit it all in, definitely  Alton Towers x

  7. alton towers is good for older kids
