Other suggestions would also be apprieciated!

I am basically looking for a good, sporty car thats good on gas and will last. I'm buying used and will probably get something made between 2002 and 2004.

Thanks!

  1. i would get an Acura RSX Type S. The acura RSX type S, Between those years is faster and will get better gas milage then both the 4 cylinder and the V-6 Eclipse models.

  2. I've been in both and I'd just choose the RSX.

It's better looking and has better MPG (if you don't use heavy throttle and go into Vtec).

However, if I couldn't find a good deal on a used RSX, I'd consider the Eclipse.

  3. the rsx is 10 times better way more reliable since its a honda afterall, way better resale value also. the eclipses from 02 to 04 sucked *** big time

  4. Eclipse...how can you beat over 263 hp but also a smooth ride and easy to maintain.  Also avg 20mpg in city.  Plus very easy to get parts for....

  5. Mitsubishi Eclipse

  6. I recomend the RSX because it is more eficient in gas, and it would last you longer. The eclipse is a good car but it will be way more expensive in the long run. You wil realize that you will have to take it to the mechanic alot of times after alot of miles. Ask any one who has an eclipse and they will tell you the same thing

  7. chevy montecarlo ss

  8. Acure RSX-More reliable, quicker.

  9. Don't be rediculous. Buy AMERICAN.

  10. My opinion...I'd rather have the Acura.

My sister drove an Eclipse for a long time and it had a lot of problems with the engine, etc.

Actually, I think the Acura RSX a better looking car as well

  11. I personally think the Acura is nicer, but that's because Mitsubishi's remind me of nasty teenage girls...

  12. The Acura is a far better car in terms of sports cars and enthusiast driving.  The Eclipse is a LOT heavier which hurts mpg and performance.  The RSX/Integra is made to drive fast around corners, but the last good Eclipse was the 2gen AWD Eclipse

Honda has much better reliability than Mitsubishi, (And Acura is just an American nameplate for Honda.)

To the person who said "Buy American" there is no American car that fits the category the asker wants.  Trust me, I am a huge patriot, and a US Marine.  I buy American whenever I can, but the big three have completely shlt the bed when it comes to passenger cars.

The Solstice/Sky is about 400 lbs too heavy, Dodge doesn't even make the Neon anymore, (But the SRT-4 would certainly qualify), The Cavalier/Cobalt is possibly the worst car on the market right now, and the Focus can't really compete with the imports.  ALL of the small American cars are overweight, and you can't even get a stick shift in the bigger sedans.

Also, When Ford and GM make cars in Canada and Mexico, and Honda makes cars in Ohio, which one is "American"?

    edit:

The Chevy Monte Carlo is a fat, underpowered, ugly, lump of c**p.  My Jeep Cherokee was faster and weighed 500 lbs LESS.  The SS version is slightly better, but still garbage.

  13. "OMG JUST WAIT FOR PUBERTY TO END!"

    Hey guess what?

No one cares what kind of car you get.
