The F-15 has a perfect kill record and has seen a lot more action. It's an air superiority fighter in F-15A-D versions and a fighter/bomber as the F-15E. And to the above poster, it hasn't been replaced. It's been supplemented with the F-22 and will be positioned more as a multi-role aircraft but will be around for decades to come.

The F/A-18 is a fighter and light attack plane with a shorter range and a lot less load carrying ability.

An F-15 has set way more performance records. I believe it still holds the time to climb record. 0- 40,000' in around a minute. Even the super hornet can't match its performance.

The f-15 is better.

better engines, better avionics, higher max gross weight, higher thrust to weight ratio, higher airframe G tolerance, higher kill ratio, bigger wing surface etc.

the F-15 beats the f-18 in just about every category

however, this is a reason for this.

It is because the F-18 is designed to be employed on a aircraft carrier and the F-15 is 100% ground based.

Aircraft going on carriers usually are slightly less capable because of all the restrictions that come with putting an airplane on a carrier.

Because the F-18 had to go on a carrier, they had to condense the Fighter missions and the Attack missions into one same airframe. While for the F-15, they made a different modified version of the F-15 for Attack missions.

When you try to make an aircraft do many missions, it kind of mixes a little, you have to do design compromises and in the end you end up with an airplane that either can't or cannot do as well the missions assigned as an airplane designed specifically for the task.

It depends on what you’re doing.  The F-15 is an air superiority fighter while the F-18 is an air to ground attack fighter.  Granted the F-15E is a Air to Air / Air to Ground fighter it's a late comer to the field and is surpassed by other Air to Ground aircraft on what weapons they can carry.  As for the F-18 not being replaced that's not true all F-18's have been replaced by F/A-18 Super Hornets that are much bigger than the original F-18's and can carry a larger payload and more weapons as well.  Nor is it true that the higher F number the better the aircraft if that were the case F-117's would be the end all fighter aircraft even though it has no afterburner, gun placement and can only carry air to ground missiles.

Without a doubt, the F-15 is better. It was designed be superior to any other fighter and has been developed into the F-15E, which is everything the F-18 is and more. It has more power to weight, giving it better acceleration and climbing ability. It has a better wing loading ,which combined with that increased thrust, gives it better turn performance and better sustained turning rate. The top speed of the F-15 is much higher. F-15 also has a more effective radar system that allows it to track more targets, at longer ranges. The F-15E carries an incredible bombload as well. The F-18E/F is a leap in capability compared to earlier fighters and it's radar systems rival the F-15's but it still falls short. As a pure fighter, there's no contest at all.
