  1.   "IF" is not the question. Being able to afford maintenance is the question. Both are good cars with great world wide reputations. Any maintenance will be routine and needed. ie: oil changes tires window wipers etc. But, when it breaks down THERE is where you will run into the real money. Just remember "if it's made in europe it'll cost ya". Do some research for free! Call a parts store and ask a question about the price for a part, any part, use your imagination, think of something. I'll bet you a happy meal they won't have your part. You will have to go to a dealer. There is the Mark-up. 2-3 times the off the shelf price. 122000 miles on the BMW!! time for a timing chain.....$2500-$4000. Just an example.

  2. It's a tie.

Either car can c**p out on you in a costly manner at any time.

  3. Well... sunroofs and nav systems have nothing to do with maintenance unless your sun roof leaks and your nav system sends you into a lake or river. If you need less maintenance due to costs I would go with the Audi. The B.M.W. with 122K is just now getting good and broken in. So for the long run, you will come out better with the B.M.W. as far as frequency of maintenance, which will be routine. However quite expensive. The don't call them the ultimate driving machine for nothing.

  4. Ugh. This is a terrible choice to make as both of these vehicles are high maintenance, complicated nightmares to repair. I suppose that the 325i would be the logical choice due to the fact that more people actually know how and are willing to work on them. The BMW engine is good for over 200,000 miles providing it has been well maintained but watch for failing fuel systems, haunted electrics and worn axles. The Audi is about ready to self-destruct at 87K miles and replacement parts are looney-tunes high, not to mention that the A6 has a resale value of a half-eaten Payday bar.

  5. typically   a vehicle with less miles will ultimately cost you less to maintain

  6. wow... two cars with maintenance issues.  both cars will run a while longer.  both cars will be fun, althought the audi should have it all over the beamer with the much larger engine.  but both are noted to need maintenance, expensive maintenance... often.

similar driving experience, much less maintenance and repairs... Lexus GS 300 or 350.

  7. if you think you can afford schedule service fee for both these cars.

you can get one of them.

The germany car is never cheap.

I mean their prices and their service maintenance.
