  1. Current worldwide sales show the PS3 a poor third behind the Wii and X-Box 360.  This is due to a lack of Blu-Ray films available.

Paramount (one of the the world's largest film studios) has stopped producing films on Blu-Ray - they will now only release films on HD-DVD.

Despite these well known facts, it's amazing how many truly stupid people keep saying "Der, I fink Blu-Ray has won.  Der..."

  2. dude, they r both awesome! i have a ps3 as well, and dude, man get hd dvd! Man all the way! but blue ray is awesome too!

GET HD DVD! for a ps3, defiantly!!!

  3. Blu ray and Hd both put out a 1080p quality picture. i work at circuity city and have to look at these day after day and as for quality blu ray is a little sharper of a picture then hd. And more companies are making blu ray then hd. So it will be a better bet to go with blu ray. it will be better for you in the future

  4. obviously you should go blu ray but i like hd better.

  5. Blu Ray seems to be winning the HD battle but in terms of quality HD DVD seems to be the better, but only just.

  6. blu rays actually better but hd dvds are more practical because theyre cheaper and as of right now, tvs cant really maximize the potential of blu ray

  7. Blu ray alot of movie companys decided not to make hd dvd format

  8. Business papers say Blu ray has won the war.

Maybe spin from blu ray, but would you take the chance and buy hd dvd?

  9. I thought it was better if you went with hd if you had a ps3? thats what i would have anyways.

  10. Hi Dr. Cheese

I'll try to keep gut feel out of my reply! drawing on hard facts instead.

Both formats are Hi Def,offer 1080p output and 7.1 surround sound.

The deciding factors will be Capacity and Support.

Capacity - HD DVD can hold up to 25gb. Blu Ray can hold 50gb, but has the potential to hold up to 200gb.

Manufactures support for Blu Ray - Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, Phillips, Pioneer, LG, Sharp, JVC, Hitachi.

Manufactures support for HD DVD - Toshiba, XBox 360

6 of the 8 main Studios support Blu Ray. The last 'biggie' Warner Bros. did a complete U turn last week and announced they were changing their support to Blu Ray.

Note : The world's biggest Rental chain, Blockbuster, only support Blu Ray.

Go into your local HMV, Virgin Megastore and have a look at the space dedicated to Blu Ray in comparison to HD DVD.

I'll let you draw your own conclusion.

  11. Bluray for sure.  Not only are major companies producing bluray only on every release but for those video game enthusiasts you can buy a playstation 3 WITH bluray player for cheaper than a stand alone hd player.  At this point bluray is winning the war easily.

  12. This reminds me of the Beta max v VHS.

You will need to wait to find out which way the industry goes.

  13. You obviously have not been paying attention to previous Q & A.

  14. Blu Ray! I'v got the ps3 and the blu ray is the muts nuts!!
