Question:

Which is better driving in snow and ice--Mitsubishi Galant (fwd) or a Mazda B2300 pickup(rwd)???

I'm deciding between the two based on this question. They are the same price and get the same mpg. They are 2004 models and what I can afford.

  1. FWD is better in snow than RWD.  I bet you can find an old Subaru with AWD which will be much better than either.


  2. The Galant is a much better choice.  It's a very balanced chassis and comes in an AWD form in Japan.  Good Luck

Pickups are really bad on ice and snow unless you throw a bunch of weight in the back because there is just not that much weight in the back of a pickup.  And front wheel drives are usually pretty good on ice and snow because all of the weight is in the front.  I've had several pickups including a very heavy chevy 3/4 ton, and all have been horrible on ice and snow, even with weight in the back.  Just my opinion though...

  4. Mitsubishi Galant is better. It has a better interior and exterior than the old B2300.
