Is it really just a matter of preference? I have a 13 year old mare that has been given to me. She's great with a leather saddle that I am borrowing but that can't go on forever... Someone is offering me a free synthetic saddle. Please help!

  1. Its all personal preference as long as the saddle fits your horse properly you should be fine.  I myself prefer leather saddles.

  2. Well just make sure it is a GOOD ONE !!

On the market now they have some off brands,,, I would NOT even put on a horse,, or on my donkey ..lol

Some do not fit right and makes the rider sit wrong on the horse,,and does more harm hen good !!

even some cheap  Leather ones ..

Always make sure they are the best of the best ,,,,and FIT the horse right and then you ,,

I would stay with a well built Leather one My self !!!

But thats up to you ?!

I hope this helps .. make sure it's a good brand of Synthetic saddle ,ok

I think you will know the difference !!

some of the bad ones ,,slip back and Do not fit the withers ,,

Even thru they are light ,, Its better to spend a bit more money on a good one ,,

  3. i'd prefer Synthetic...

so you won't be demonstrated by animal loving organizations...

  4. Personal preference for the rider, as long as the saddle fits the horse properly.  You should be using a saddle pad, so no part of the saddle ever touches the horse.  Personally, I prefer leather - traditional and it smells great.
