I'm trying to get a better quality than Jade Rosin. So, is it better to use dark or light rosin? Please inform me of what type of sound would be produced. ~ Thanks!

  1. I use gold fleck. It produces a broad and warm sound. It's not so much the color. a softer rosin will give you more dust. lack for a better word. It will rub off better.  A hard rosin has to be scratched to rub off on your bow. You can go to shar music.com they have a huge variety of products. As long as you don't go with supersensitive you will have to try some out. But I defiantly suggest Gold Fleck about 10 bucks.

  2. I personally think dark rosin is better. I'm not sure why I think that way, since I have never done any experimenting playing with both types of rosin, but I've always gotten the impression that dark rosin provides a better, smoother tone..
