Can someone please tell me which plan would be better if you decide you want to become a commercial pilot like for air canada,westjet...e.t.c. I am deciding if i should just go to a flight school and get my ratings, licences and hours or go to an aviation college and get ratings, lcences, hours and college degree in aviation? Thanks!

  1. I would opt for aviation college.  Not only do you get the background in terms of flying experience/licensing, but you also learn a lot more about the industry in general.  In addition, you'll have a college degree, which is generally a requirement by all major carriers.  Even if not required, it is a positive differentiator.

  2. The real factor to involve here is the cost.

An aviation college/cadetship would cost much more to do due to the fact you get ground school at it, along with flying and possibly board.

A flying school would be cheaper, because, no ground school, you can self study it of course, and well, you can be more free, do a job to help pay it off etc.

I'm actually juggling this decision myself to be honest.
