Which is better for computer programming, MS Access or Foxpro?

  1. Well...  If you're going to choose between the two, Access is more widely used.  The "programming" part of Access is Visual Basic for Applications  (VBA) and SQL.  Foxpro has its own language.

    I believe that Foxpro is no longer supported by Microsoft.  Everyone who used to use Foxpro was forced to either switch to SQL Server express or Access.  Even back when it was still supported, it was pretty a uncommon language.  Compare that to Access which uses common languages and the choice seems pretty clear.

    If you're looking to learn databases, Access is a good way to start.  If you're looking to learn programming, try something more along the lines of Java or Visual Basic (or even Pascal).
