Which is better for docking a personal water craft -- a lift or a floating dock?

Have my own pier and want to store it on site during the winter.

check out air dock.   http://www.airdock.com  its a lift that is inflatable. use one for my boat and love it.  also less expensive than a traditional lift or the drive-on type of docking systems like ez dock

A lift is always better since you can get it out of the water.  I have a lift for my boat and the hull stays cleaner since it is not sitting in the water.
