  1. It depends how in shape you are.

I think that if you weren't in shape snowboarding might be easier because while you have to use your leg muscles to stay up and ride well you don't have to use more muscles to keep your legs together / feet pointed all the time.

If you're into one sport over the other just start that one because as long as you can get gear that is designed for your weight range you'll get into it and that's activity and exercise and it'll encourage you to be more healthy.

    Have fun!

  2. Which is more fun? They're both fun in different ways. Skiing is more about moving in a linear path, snowboarding is about the thrill of keeping yourself balanced (not crashing) as you go over terrain. I would suggest (for you) skiing because it's much easier to learn than snowboarding. Snowboarding for the first time usually involves falling down a lot. Unless you are very athletic or coordinated.

  3. skiing is more fun in my opinion, and even though i love skiing, it is easier to learn. snowboarding takes more time to learn, but in skiing, you need more cordination to turn and use your leg muscles to keep the top of the skiis pointed in. plus it is harder to do tricks on skiis, but snowboarding is harder to balance and stand up straight. its your choice, but i recomend skiing.

  4. skiing is easier to pick up for beginners regardless of size

  5. Dieting

  6. skiing its easier and it will be good exercise.

plus your on two seperate things with two poles

  7. Skiing in general is easier to learn and go down the hill but if your looking to do tricks I would stick with the snowboard though, because tricks on ski's require a lot more skill than on snowboard. For example look at a 180, ski's you land backward snowboard you land switch.

I ski, and my friend snowboards, I kinda wish I learned snowboarding. Because learning tricks = really tough (for me atleast)

  8. If you are really overweight and / or out of shape,  chances are neither will be much fun.

I was in good shape and a feather weight when I first tried skiing and it was really no fun at all the first few times.  Total frustration describes it much better.  While I enjoy water skiing I never developed a liking for any prolonged time in the snow.

When I take a winter vacation I look for warm weather and a pool.

Of course this is just my opinion. Have fun!
