  1. A video camera that records onto a hard drive - but MiniDV beats them both!

  2. I currently have a HDD system and use to have mini-DVs.

mini-DVs stink because they are mechanical and both my previous camcorders died because of the tape mechanism.

Not to mention they are serial (rewind/ff...etc).

DVD is a problem because it has limited recording capabilities..maybe an hour for a DVD at most.

However, DVD is brain-dead easy because you can just

    play the DVDs anywhere.

The new blu-ray recorders are getting horrible reviews.

The only problem with a HDD system is you have to get the data off the drive...and it can be alot of data.  But at least,  you can see the video on the computer.  My HDD system can also record on memory sticks.  1920x1080 is available now if that's an option for you.  remember, high rez means more storage requirements.
