Nintento DS all the way.  I have two boys 8 and one that just turned 11 and they love their DS'  These systems are all about the games and the Nintendo has games that a 9  year old will love.  Mario, Pokemon, Donkey Kong, etc.

PSP is more towards older children and have more older children  games while the DS is more of all ages and alot of the games r fun so i recumend the DS

Psp is way better than a ds because the psp haves great games to play and you can browse the web.

psp because there are so many buttons and things that a nine year old could mess up with a ds. if you help the 9 yr. old get past the menu of a game or something like that i guess they could do either of the two.

I think you should get him a ds because the psp has internet and unless you lock him out, he could get on p**n sites.

i would say a Nintendo DS because of the selection of games for his/her age. While the psp has more rated T and M games.

Psp. My brother is ten and loves his psp. (Maybe a bit too much.) It is great because it has internet, games, music, movies and pictures. So as he gets older he can still use it for pre-teen things.
