  1. I know what you mean -I always used to put all reference details on my CV until someone sent a reference request to my current employer (not good!!)  Now i put "available on request".

  2. Yes it does.

  3. I've always put name, address and phone number of referees on my CV. None of mine have had a work email address.

When I was on the dole I was on jobsearch courses and was told on one that I should put 'referees details/references available on request' - the idea was it means they have to get in touch with you to ask for them which gives you another chance to impress.

I didn't agree, because I think it might really mean you don't make the shortlist for interview! If they have a pile of CVs and need to reduce it to the final shortlist, and there's one with all referees' contact details already there and yours where they have to ask for them - well yours might look too much trouble and they'd bin it.

If you're impressive enough they want referees' details I reckon you'd get an interview and the chance to impress them in person anyway.

Well I did it my way and now I have a job..... make your own mind up :)

  4. If I were you I'd put the names, job title and address of your references, and also the email address, but not necessarily the phone number.  But if you are applying for a specific job which requires a reference, then you should let the referee know before you submit the application/CV and then put their phone number on also.

  5. I have always just the mail/post address down.
