Which is better plasma or hd?

watched a current affair tonight and their story only confused me. i want to buy a 50 inch (or bigger) tv and need to sort out which one is best and provides value for money. we watch everything; but nothing in particular.

there is nothing called HD or Plasma

THERE IS TWO THINGS SCREEN TYPE AND RESOLUTION

LCD and PLASMA IS THE SCREEN TYPE AND LCD IS BETTER BECAUSE OF MANY REASONS SUCH AS AGE AND THE QUALITY AT HIGH ATTITUDES

HD IS THE RESOLUTION OF THE NEW ERA OF TV AND CAN BE OF TWO TYPES HD READY AND FULL HD AND SURLY FULL HD IS BETTER BECUASE THE SCREEN OPERATES AT HIGHER RESOLUTIONS ....

HD has nothing to do with the type of TV, its a form of channel and results in the better pixilation of a picture (better image quality). I think the word your looking for is LCD which i believe working with TV's the plasma screen has a better quality over the LCD provided you have HD tuning or a HD set-top box.

LCD is for lighted viewing environments. Plasma is for more darker theater environments. HD is the type of signal.
