  1. As for someone being homeschooled since first grade, I think public school is better.

No money, dress how you want.

    Freedom.

None of my nieces, nephews or brothers go to school. Well, with the exception of my 17 year old brother, who is a senior in public school. He wanted to graduate with his friends.

  2. It really depends. For us it would be public (after homeschooling). Private can be very expensive and we really don't have that much money. I'd also prefer my kids had friends of many ethnic and social back grounds rather than just the upper class whites. We also have a good public school, one without lots of drugs, abuse, s*x...

Everyone has their own reasons which need to be respected.

  3. Well that depends on which two schools you are comparing.  In general, I think private school is better, but a really good public school *could* be better than a really bad private school.

    BTW  homeschool is best!

  4. Well... private school have less students in a class so each student gets more attention than regular schools. Also usually private schools serve better food and a better education. That's what I heard. Public school always do reviews of everything! You never learn anything new. But both are good though.

  5. Depends on where you live.  If you live in TX or NV then private school is probably better.  There are many web sites available that can show you many stats available to evaluate schools.

  6. Private schools are great for those who like to be focused on more because they're usually less poplulated versus a public school and it depends on your own judgement really. Because some private schools throw in certain studies to focus on that public schools usually don't such as a music, artistry, religion, etc. some would prefer to go that route.  Private schools are good if a person prefers a more guidelined environment, for instance, some private schools requires you to do certain hours of community services before you graduate during senior year.  In my own personal opinion though is that public school is great. Because there are so many students, you get exposed to people of all backgrounds, especially those who might not be able to afford a private school tuition.  Public school also enables you to have a little more liberty with your decisions such as the way you express yourself, the way you dress, the way you learn.  After high school, colleges are mostly considered public schools anyway because more people from any and every background are there regardless if they could afford the tuition, got in by scholarship, loan, or a simple grant.

This concept of public school and private school isn't really that big of a difference, it's just preference.  However, some private schools are known to be a greatly rated because of the standards that they set their students to meet and the requirements that they choose to set forth.  Public schools are also great because they get the challenge of a wider range of other schools, other students, on academic and athletic levels.  They both don't really determine the quality of education you have because there are great teachers and experiences to be found on public as well as private schools.

  7. if youre religious, then private, if it doesnt matter, than public

  8. It depends on what the public school district is like.  Private school is very clicky.

  9. Depends on where you live and what you are looking for.  I went to public schools...and I'm successful.

  10. Public or private, they are both still a conventional school meaning they have the same problems, one just carries a tuition over and above the taxes the parents already pay to support the public schools.

The problems a conventional school normally deals with are the same in both public, and private; private may have it on a smaller/lesser scale but the system is still the same.

Grade/age segregation, group teaching, little or no input in the curriculum choice by the parents and so on.

Some private Christian schools that are solely parent supported, and have full parent participation, and receive no state, or federal funding whatsoever may be an exception to this, and are therefore the only private schools we would look at as being a cut above any other conventional school.

  11. You're asking this in the homeschooling section?

In actual answer, it depends on the individual schools in question. Some private schools have better academics and better atmospheres than the typical public school; some don't. Some public schools, or individual teachers, can be better than the best public school.

If you're trying to decide between the two, visit the public schools in your area and compare them to the public schools. Watch the kids, in particular--what they do during class, what they do in the hallways, etc. Somebody in administration can spout off numbers about achievement all they want, but the proof lies with the kids.

  12. public schools cause im homeschooled (but they call themselfs a private school) and i hate it so i vote for public schools

  13. privare, cos they focus more on the kids cos they are less.

  14. A school whether private or public is only as good as it's teachers and staff.

  15. Neither is better, per se.

Which one is better *for you* depends entirely on what you're looking for and what your priorities/goals/needs are.

What has this got to do with homeschooling?

  16. A private school is better because you have more one-on-one time with the teacher because there are few students in the class.  You can also be much more closer with your peers because there are few of them.  Also not many people will discriminate you like in public schools.  So also get a better education.
